Another Little Accordian Album

Yes, I have another little accordian album to share for Pink Saturday via www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com , this one I made on April 12, 2007 - had to pull an "oldie" as we are still unpacking from our move last week.  For the first time in 15 years I am NOT living in Cincinnati, just a "step" outside of it in West Chester, Ohio - half hour drive via expressway from our old home.  So far, so good and I FINALLY HAVE MY VERY OWN CRAFT ROOM - YIPPPEEEE!!!!  So now I get to go shopping for work table and storage - love this aspect of it!!

Anyway, my oldest daughter, Morgan - now a junior at OSU - is,  an always has been a SHOE DIVA!!!  Since the day she started walking and discovered the heels in my closet, she has been putting her feet into shoes of all kinds!!!  I decided the day before I left for the weekend crop that I was going to make a little mini album to record a fraction of her shoe hoard!  So, I had her pull a few pairs out and model them while I snapped photos; Morgan was 17 at the time.

I used a variety of fonts for the title on the cover - this is a great way to use those left over pieces from various sources - (wood, metal, mail box, plastic, chipboard, sticker)  love the look it achieves as well!  'SHOES FOR ALL HER MOODS

Unfortunately I do not remember the manufacturer of the album - which really doesn't matter since it was clearanced out when I bought it $1.00 at Hobby Lobby. (I DO remember all the great deals I find - ha ha)
As you can see the front cover had that sweet little hinged door on it, so I covered the inside with a close-up of Morgan steppig into her cowboy boots an wrote the quote inside the "window" "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" , felt it was appropriate...

This type of mini album 5" x 7" is a great way to use up bits and pieces of paper, embellishments and to showcase a "collection", etc.

Morgan's well worn Converse an the dictionary card went well with them, used some brads to add texture to the circle pattern on the paper.  The Hot pink boots with the "built-in" sock was a birthday present from her grand-ma!!  I was shocked when I saw them, but have to admit, the girl "rocked 'em".   I had a piece of scrapbook paper with various words on it which I cut out,  HOTTIE, added the flowers and the piece of paper - all matched the pink of her boots very well.

Another word from the paper "Playful" and added a piece of ribbon as a belly band with the flower and brad - simple little embellishments.

I loved this TARGET gift card when it was given to me for my birthday and KNEW I'd be repurposing it after the funds were used.  Liked it here - FREE embellishments are all around you, just look at things differently - gift cards, clothing tags - so many are too artistic to just throw away!!!

The "wrapped in warmth" chipboard was perfect for these "eskimo" booties that were so popular then.  Artistic definitely describes Morgan, whether it is with her art, singing or acting in plays - those shoes saw many performances on the stage of Oak Hills High School.  A little piece of ribbon again used as a belly band with a small safety pin I added beads too, plus some prima flowers.

Variety of shoes in style - the high heels w/ paisely print fabric, the red pointy flats, and the sequin covered heels from Christmas/New Years - so modern, so NOW - so THEN!
Last the black ankle boots and the iconic Cowboy boot - yes, she is FEARLESS in my eyes!!!

Here's to a fun Pink Weekend and hopefully the LAST of the unpacking in our new home - I'm sick of cardboard boxes - that is, unless one comes to me in the mail filled with scrapbooking goodies!!!

ITS ANOTHER HOT, HOT, HOT PINK SATURDAY!!

You woulnd't know it looking at this photo on the Ohio River that its 101 degrees and about 107 with the humidity factored in! 9th day in a row of temps well over 98 degrees, this is out of the norm for Cincinnati!!!
Makes it hard for my brain to be creative, especially when I'm longing to work on a scrapbook page and some art journal pages!

Since I've not created this week, I decided to pull out a mini accordian album I did a while back - actually never completed it, bad me! It is just a random compilation of photos of my 2 daughters together over the years.  The great thing - the color scheme is PINK and green, ha ha!!

I kept this album simple by using paper scraps and various flowers, jewels, etc. from my stash.  Put just a little on each page to make them unique.  The "she loves to..." card I had Morgan and Kerri each write on.  I should ask them what their preferences would be now!
This is the cover, as you can see I have yet to add a photo on there or possibly more embellishements or a poem about sisters, can't decide.  The clear plastic tags on the flower read:  you  me

The left side is a photo from Morgan's high school graduation - afterwards - the right side I've yet to put a photo there, oops, looks like a rhinestone has fallen off, probably due to this heat!!!  I made it so a page or whatever will slide under the paper strap.

Well, looks like these are the only photos I will be able to share of the accordian album since I've been trying for a couple of hours to load pictures from my new iPhone to the computer and for some reason the photos continue to come out turned sideways.  Even after I edit them they are sideways when I try to load them to my blog; all except for these that are shown here. UGH - no idea what the problem is, I've only had this phone for a week and still learning with it.

Original Smashing Stickers

I've been having fun in my Smash book and have purchased a lot of Smash embellishments; as well as using my scrapbook stash.  My oldest daughter, Morgan sketches all the time an since we also have an Etsy shop, came up with a great idea.  I took some of Morgan's sketches, reduced them and copied to sticker labels for unique Smash stickers - which I am listing in our shop tonight: RoMoHoDesigns.  The cool thing - you get to color them in if you want using markers or colored pencils.   These can also be used for scrapbooking, as return address labels, cards, labeling items, mail art, journaling, etc.
We are also making more sheets with other graphics as well, coming soon!

Hope everyone's Monday is not as wet as our's is now.

One of My Favorite LAYOUTS

Did this page at the crop the other weekend, forgot to post it though.  Love this layout for its lovely simplicity of my beautiful daughter, Morgan.
I layered the decorative paper on a piece of black cardstock to emphasize the green floral design - which I LOVE.  Morgan's picture is matted on white cardstock then black cardstock to give it more dimension and focus.

The birdcage I cut from a piece of scrapbookpaper then embellished with the bling,  The green rosette I created using the Tim Holtz Sizzix die and an old button.

side few to see the layers of the flower

another, smaller Tim Holtz inspired tissue tape flower, button center with added rhinestone.  The three words I used to describe Morgan are run-ons
the birdcage is a rub-on and I added the bling to enhance it.  The butterfly is a sticker an I added the bling.

Hope this inspires you to go do some scrapping, Happy Thursday!

The other flower I created is the Tim Holtz tissue tape flower he shows how to make on his blog, so easy and fun to do and so lovely when finished.  I used a flower button for the center of it an added a rhinestone to the very center.

Layout for a swap

This is a layout I did last fall actually, for a swap I was in.  The recipient's favorite colors were blue and orange (her college colors).  I enjoyed using the rub-on flourishes, which "picked-up" on the ones in the decorative background papers and the overlay fit in nicely - she seemed to be very happy with it!
I think I should create something similar for myself, I really liked the outcome of this layout.
Have a fun day!
