Another Little Accordian Album

Yes, I have another little accordian album to share for Pink Saturday via www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com , this one I made on April 12, 2007 - had to pull an "oldie" as we are still unpacking from our move last week.  For the first time in 15 years I am NOT living in Cincinnati, just a "step" outside of it in West Chester, Ohio - half hour drive via expressway from our old home.  So far, so good and I FINALLY HAVE MY VERY OWN CRAFT ROOM - YIPPPEEEE!!!!  So now I get to go shopping for work table and storage - love this aspect of it!!

Anyway, my oldest daughter, Morgan - now a junior at OSU - is,  an always has been a SHOE DIVA!!!  Since the day she started walking and discovered the heels in my closet, she has been putting her feet into shoes of all kinds!!!  I decided the day before I left for the weekend crop that I was going to make a little mini album to record a fraction of her shoe hoard!  So, I had her pull a few pairs out and model them while I snapped photos; Morgan was 17 at the time.

I used a variety of fonts for the title on the cover - this is a great way to use those left over pieces from various sources - (wood, metal, mail box, plastic, chipboard, sticker)  love the look it achieves as well!  'SHOES FOR ALL HER MOODS

Unfortunately I do not remember the manufacturer of the album - which really doesn't matter since it was clearanced out when I bought it $1.00 at Hobby Lobby. (I DO remember all the great deals I find - ha ha)
As you can see the front cover had that sweet little hinged door on it, so I covered the inside with a close-up of Morgan steppig into her cowboy boots an wrote the quote inside the "window" "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" , felt it was appropriate...

This type of mini album 5" x 7" is a great way to use up bits and pieces of paper, embellishments and to showcase a "collection", etc.

Morgan's well worn Converse an the dictionary card went well with them, used some brads to add texture to the circle pattern on the paper.  The Hot pink boots with the "built-in" sock was a birthday present from her grand-ma!!  I was shocked when I saw them, but have to admit, the girl "rocked 'em".   I had a piece of scrapbook paper with various words on it which I cut out,  HOTTIE, added the flowers and the piece of paper - all matched the pink of her boots very well.

Another word from the paper "Playful" and added a piece of ribbon as a belly band with the flower and brad - simple little embellishments.

I loved this TARGET gift card when it was given to me for my birthday and KNEW I'd be repurposing it after the funds were used.  Liked it here - FREE embellishments are all around you, just look at things differently - gift cards, clothing tags - so many are too artistic to just throw away!!!

The "wrapped in warmth" chipboard was perfect for these "eskimo" booties that were so popular then.  Artistic definitely describes Morgan, whether it is with her art, singing or acting in plays - those shoes saw many performances on the stage of Oak Hills High School.  A little piece of ribbon again used as a belly band with a small safety pin I added beads too, plus some prima flowers.

Variety of shoes in style - the high heels w/ paisely print fabric, the red pointy flats, and the sequin covered heels from Christmas/New Years - so modern, so NOW - so THEN!
Last the black ankle boots and the iconic Cowboy boot - yes, she is FEARLESS in my eyes!!!

Here's to a fun Pink Weekend and hopefully the LAST of the unpacking in our new home - I'm sick of cardboard boxes - that is, unless one comes to me in the mail filled with scrapbooking goodies!!!

MINI ACCORDIAN ALBUM

Posting for Pink Saturday at www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com and Passion Parade at http://myricandreasen.blogspot.com

I came across this cute little round mini accordian cardstock in my stash - completely forgot I had it - an decided it was time to add decorative papers and embellishments:

The original accordian color is that salmon color you see on the page hinge above.  It came with this tin an I added the pre-cut circle to the top.  Originially the album fit perfectly inside, but with all the embellishments now the lid will not click in place, but will stay with a ribbon tied around it.

As you can see I used papers that are a combination of soft pink, light blue and a manila shade.  I loved the papers for their variety of designs and graph like paper all mixed together.  Each of the 12 sides is decorated differently using the papers, buttons, rhinestones and some clock faces.

Used Prima flowers, buttons, rhinestones, fussy cut the clocks from scrapbook paper and the background paper is one piece.  Same with the center page, single piece of background paper an applied individual letter stickers for "remember" and flowers and rhinestones.  Last page I used a word block and flower.
(oops, sorry just realized the pic is upside down, oh well...)

I just love the ledger looking paper!!!  Lots of buttons that I threaded paper "ribbon" through an a few more flowers.

Here I used a a couple of little tags and a photo frame.

Last three pages, more flowers and rhinestones.  This was an easy little project and very happy how it turned out!  Creating a mini album does not have to be a daunting task, just enjoy yourself, start out with a nice little stash of items that go together and go from there.

Hope this weekend you find time to be creative!

STAMPAWAY CONVENTION & Pink Saturday & Passion Parade

Happy Pink Saturday to everyone, if you haven't found my blog through Beverly's Pink Saturday Blog Hop, please go visit all the others via her blog at: www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com or take a look at Passion Parade over at http://myricandreasen.blogspot.com

Today is the annual STAMPAWAY CONVENTION here in Cincinnati, Ohio at the newly remodeled an expanded Sharonville Convention Center!!!  I've been anxiously awaiting this day since I missed it last year because we were moving.  I am prepared with my stash of ATC's to trade with all the others waiting for the doors to open at 9am; my youngest, Kerri will be trading her ATC's as well!!!

This is one of the ATCs I've made quite a few of that I will be trading.  I used a white gem cardstock for the background, stamped the lovely face using ColorBox brown ink and applied Tim Holtz distressing embossing powder in dusty concord to her.  Heated it up and once it dried and cooled scraped away the fine particles for the "distress" look.  Used Tim Holtz tissue tape on the right side and bottom an I inked those to "age" it with ColorBox chestnut roan ink.  Next I stamped a Michael's $1.00 spot stamp: typewrite with the words "write your own story" using StazOn jet black. I stamped just the typewriter image again, separately on card stock an cut it out and then used pop dots to adhere over original stamped image. (I love giving my cards dimension, depth) I added a touch of ColorBox rouge to her lips, the two metal brads in the corners and finished off with inking the edges all the way around with the StazOn jet black again.  Im pleased with the final result and hope others will be too.

Very excited because Tim Holtz will be here demonstrating all day long - the man is so charismatic and amazingly talented - so inspiring!!  Wish my step-mom could be here too, but she is vacationing, lucky her, or maybe not so luck since she's missing this FUN convention - ha ha.

Off to create more ATC's, hope everyone has a Fun Pink and Creative Weekend!!

HOMEMADE SMASH BOOK TO SHARE FOR PINK SATURDAY

Hello an welcome to another post for PINK SATURDAY, so happy that you stopped by an I am eager to share some of the pages from a new SMASH BOOK  that I made over the past two days.    I'm very pleased with how the entire journal came out and especially with the copies I made onto vintage dictionary pages of my daughter, Morgan's sketches.  I asked her to draw me her version of Alice in Wonderland, and she sketched the scene above!  ONe flower with curling lashes and the other showing its "disgust" of Alice.

The page on the right is a very thin side "pocket" that I attached the butterfly wing to.  It extends the pocket's hold on items behind it, with the help of the paper clip.  I also created the butterfly tag using the negative of stickers and DITTO ink spray.

This page I glued all the tiny butterflies to the edge - they hang over for a nice border, then added the black washi tape as well to make their color "pop".

Some Tim Holtz grungeboard letters used as a mask and more DITTO ink spray was all it took to transform this originally plain page.

Another one of Morgan's original sketches that I copied onto a vintage dictionary page.  I really love the look of this and will be doing it more for the next smash books I create.

The left side is simply a copy of a chipboard piece which I half glued in to create a "tuck-in" for the journaling papers.  On the right, although its a little hard to see is a pocket page made out of a much larger plastic page protector.  I secured the sides I had to cut to make it fit with glue and Tim Holtz tissue tape.  Behind it is another page, just a piece of scrapbook paper with multiple designs, perfect for more journaling along with whatever you want to "smash" onto the page.

Large journaling tages which I taped at the top for flip up use, an a piece of decorative paper which is actually recycled from an old calendar, an a mini tag attached with colored paper clip.

Here is another example of a thin side pocket then I added the butterfly/moth to the bottom for more "holding" spot, an added the stamped tags.  On the right I stamped the bird cage, put down some strips of washi tape then hit it with the DITTO ink spray and pulled the tape up to create a one of a kind journaling page.

And this is a rubber stamped image I cut out and turned into a "tuck-in" spot.  I purposely left the image uncolored for the recipient to personalize it.  A quote is added at the top along with some journaling spot tags.  The right just a piece of scrapbook paper.
The journal has 26 pieces of paper for 52 sides of SMASHING on an it comes with more paper and a bag filled with smashing bits and pieces.  I am selling this in my Etsy shop an hope to list more homemade Smash Books this coming week.  Thanks so much for stopping by, hope you find other inspiring blogs at http://www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ and please stop back soon.  Have a fun weekend!

ITS ANOTHER HOT, HOT, HOT PINK SATURDAY!!

You woulnd't know it looking at this photo on the Ohio River that its 101 degrees and about 107 with the humidity factored in! 9th day in a row of temps well over 98 degrees, this is out of the norm for Cincinnati!!!
Makes it hard for my brain to be creative, especially when I'm longing to work on a scrapbook page and some art journal pages!

Since I've not created this week, I decided to pull out a mini accordian album I did a while back - actually never completed it, bad me! It is just a random compilation of photos of my 2 daughters together over the years.  The great thing - the color scheme is PINK and green, ha ha!!

I kept this album simple by using paper scraps and various flowers, jewels, etc. from my stash.  Put just a little on each page to make them unique.  The "she loves to..." card I had Morgan and Kerri each write on.  I should ask them what their preferences would be now!
This is the cover, as you can see I have yet to add a photo on there or possibly more embellishements or a poem about sisters, can't decide.  The clear plastic tags on the flower read:  you  me

The left side is a photo from Morgan's high school graduation - afterwards - the right side I've yet to put a photo there, oops, looks like a rhinestone has fallen off, probably due to this heat!!!  I made it so a page or whatever will slide under the paper strap.

Well, looks like these are the only photos I will be able to share of the accordian album since I've been trying for a couple of hours to load pictures from my new iPhone to the computer and for some reason the photos continue to come out turned sideways.  Even after I edit them they are sideways when I try to load them to my blog; all except for these that are shown here. UGH - no idea what the problem is, I've only had this phone for a week and still learning with it.

Art Journal Page and Pink Saturday

Its Pink Saturday an I'm here to share my newest art journal page...

I used shimmer modge podge on the background and tried to do some masking with the fleur-de-lis and red DITTO spray - didn't come out exactly how I'd hope, but its ok, worked with it.  Added some pink Ditto spray up above, an washi tape, eiffel tower die cut, some anime images, silver sharpie and inked the edges. I also used parts of an old theater ticket for the center.

close up of the bottom of page

Smashbook, Baseball and Pink Saturday

Posting for Pink Saturday over at Beverly's lovely www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com and for Show and Tell Saturday at http://www.bedifferentactnormal.com/ with my Smashbook page about my daughter, Kerri's baseball game as well as her singing group, Ovation singing the National Anthem at the Cincinnati, Reds baseball game last night, Friday, April 27th.

Used the pink baseball paper to represent the fact she is the ONLY GIRL on the team as well as in the BBA!!  Liked the black polka dot washi tape - carried on the "ball" team - used a piece of the K & Co. Smash tape of "who, where, when, why". Added a variety of baseball stickers - the main focus was the lineup card and a little journaling about the day.  (It was raining the entire came, very windy and cold, so didn't take any pictures- that's the beauty of Smashbooks, pictures aren't a "requirement".)

SO FUN SEEING MY DAUGHTER ON THE JUMBO TRON!!!!

ANOTHER FUN AND MEMORABLE EVENING AT A REDS GAME - 2ND YEAR KERRI AND OVATION HAVE PERFORMED FOR THE REDS AND SHE IS THE 3RD  OF MY 4 KIDS TO DO SO!

HOPE YOU HAVE A MEMORABLE WEEKEND!!

MY SMASHBOOK - sharing for PINK SATURDAY

My birthday was April 4th and my best friend, Hilda sent me my very first Smash book with extra goodies!  I immediately did the first page in the book using one of the pockets she sent to hold the birthday card from her.  The flowers I cut out from the wrapping paper she used, the butterfly was on the card's envelope and pulled the Smashbook sticker off the front of the book.  A simple page, but my first and I'm happy with it.

Also sharing my daughter, Morgan's set of original drawing stationery that we are selling in our Etsy shop.  I had posted another batch of these last month, but this is a different style of paper, etc.  She is already at work on new sketches.

Hope everyone has a fun Pink Saturday and a Happy Easter!!

Pink Saturday and More Mail

Its been awhile since I posted for Pink Saturday http://www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ , nice to do it again!

My daughter, Morgan, is always sketching; I grabbed a stack of her "doodle" pages while she was visiting from OSU and found this and the following images.  I played with my copier and decided to "create" stationery out of her "Les Femmes"...since I love writing letters to my pals, thought this would be fun and original to use.

Talked to Morgan about it and we are also listing them this weekend in our Etsy shop: RoMoHoDesigns,  stationery sets of Morgan's original sketches...the "ghost" image stationery works best using Sharpie Ultra Fine marker, I only had green at the time, but black would be even better.

Going to have envelopes to go along with them, will probably put a small copy of  each "Les Femmes" in the corner of the envelopes with a little decoration around the edges, still debating.

Happy to have received Pink decorated mail from my pal Kendra in CA, love all that decorative tape!

An another piece from new pal, Abby - she did all the colorful drawings on this envie, put a smile on my face!

an this is the back side of the envie and...

This is the back of the notecard she designed, so creative!!

Here's to a wonderful Pink Saturday of loveliness and inspiration!

MY SON IS HOME FROM IRAQ - HAPPY PINK SATURDAY!!

What could be better for a Pink Saturday post than the fact my heart is filled with love and pride and so much happiness and relief that my oldest son, Michael is home for good - from his deployment in Iraq!! These two little ones he is holding are acutally his brother-in-law and sister-in-law -its TRUE.
The family attended the Welcome Home ceremony yesterday morning and last night we had a surprise welcome home party for Michael in our new home - everyone had a good time.  On Monday, he will be "recognized" along with other servicemen and servicewomen at his old elementary school - where his youngest sister is now attending - during the 9/11 tribute.
This is the happiest and most content I have been in a long time - Happy Pink Saturday!

Squeezing in another PINK Saturday during the packing...

Welcome to another PINK Saturday hosted by Beverly over at http://www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com/
This is a special Pink saturday as today is the day we all share a blessing in our life, and help to raise money for another Miracle Makeover. Please stop by Beverly's site and leave a message as each one she receives raises money for another Miracle Makeover, and while you are there you can see Charlie's Miracle Makeover video that was possible by all the money raised last year.
I really needed the break from packing, by the way the final move date is the 18th.
I was outside next door playing with my neighbors 10 week old miniature workshire terrier - Wolfie, he is so adorable - puts a smile on my face everytime I see him.  Then in front of me I see a hummingbird - which we rarely see around our houses!  It stayed in the area for several minutes and it was a joy to view, so I wanted to share this lovely photo of a hummingbird I found online to remember my luck of spotting one this afternoon...
Although I am tired and stressed from all the packing and moving that I have been doing I am also blessed knowing that my family are all healthy and for the most part together - our oldest son is still in Iraq but due home in another month. Through good times and tough times we have been there for one another and  watch with love and pride as our children and nieces and nephews are becoming strong and caring adults.  Looking at that hummingbird reminds me that they are taking flight with their own lives and that makes me feel very blessed.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Pink weekend!

A QUICK POSTING FOR PINK SATURDAY

Unfortunately I am busy packing for our move in less than two weeks, but since I missed the last Pink Saturday, wanted to get a little something up for this one - besides, I needed a break!
This lovely pink depression glass pitcher was found at an antique sale on our 5th wedding anniversary - last month we celebrated our 21st.  It is difficult to appreciate the delicate pink in it from this photo.  I love when the sun shines through it; I use it more for floral display than actual 'pitcher duty' since the pour spout is so tiny it is very slow pouring and usually messy.

A gift from my oldest daughter, she found it while up visiting OSU - she moves up there next month to start her Junior year.  Hopefully I will find a couple of hours this weekend to enjoy it and relax.

Please stop by Beverly's  at http://www.howsweetthesound.typepad.com/ she is the wonderful hostess of Pink Saturday.
