Tuesday and Wednesday of this past week I spent in an ATC making frenzy with my youngest daughter, Kerri and my step-mom. We were creating ATC's to swap at the 20th annual STAMPAWAY CONVENTION here in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 3rd.
The story behind "DIVE INTO SUMMER" is: this was originally a 5" x 7" art journal page. I liked it so much that I decided to copy it at 50%, so perfect ATC size of 2.5" x 3.5" The original page I created the background using glimmer green, ocean blue and a lavender purple mix. Next I applied the seagrass magazine clippings and the rhinestone seahorse. The lovely little mermaid is an image from Saturated Canary by Krista Smith, which on the original did not have the glitter effect. I gave the entire page a coat of glimmer modge podge. After I made the copy I reapplied the glimmer modge podge, and cut out the images of the mermaid and seahorse which I have "raised" using foam pop dots. I applied iridescent Stickles to the mermaid to really make her stand out an used H2O white paint for "pearls" in her hair. The bottom of the card I applied a mixture of green Flock and copper glitter for the ocean floor. I wrote DIVE INTO SUMMER in a wavy motion to simulate the ocean waves.
This is 'Bon Voyage" which I made by making a partial copy of a piece of scrapbook paper I had, applying to an ATC blank card. Next I stamped Bon Voyage in black ink and used clear embossing powder on it. The bird is from my Cricut machine an I had cut it out of white cardstock, then I used Ditto blue glimmer spray on it and backed it with black cardstock. The branch is also from my Cricut machine. The birdcage is from a piece of scrapbook paper which I clipped out and used H2O gold paint on. The butterfly is from a hand punch that I applied iridescent Sprinkles to. Both the bird and birdcage are raised with pop dots an I finished the card off with walnut Cats Eye ink for the edging.
I am So PROUD of Kerri, this was her original concept, I just helped fine tune it a little. She came up with the green scrapbook paper for the background an used a piece of decorated acetate for the topper - she was going to frame the card completely with it, but that turned out to be "overkill". She still liked the idea of framing, so after picking out an anime image she decided to "frame" her. She also added the little piece of music then asked me, "what else?" We decided on the Tim Holtz tissue tape to edge it and the two little flowers and pink rhinestones to bring out more of the pink on her.
This one is also by Kerri, who happens to LOVE Halloween. I had that wonderful spiderweb rubbestamp which she wanted to use. First she used charcoal chalk on the ATC blank then stamped the web in black - she has since decided she will clear emboss the webs on the other cards - and she settled on this anime sketch. Kerri said she was pretty but looked a little "evil" too. She stamped the 3 spiders and used the red pearls to "highlight" them an also added the red pearls to the top and bottom. A gold pearl as an earring finishes the card.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Pink Saturday and make sure you visit others at http://www.howsweetthesound.typeppad.com/
